Apple Intelligence has been usable in Germany since September 14, 2026, with iOS 27. Writing tools automatically correct spelling and grammar, and the dictation feature turns spoken sentences into text far more accurately. The new AI voice assistant Siri AI stays blocked for now under European regulation.
Apple Intelligence now corrects text and dictation automatically
Anyone typing on an iPhone, iPad or Mac with iOS 27, iPadOS 27 or macOS 27 sees automatic correction suggestions right in the text field. The so-called writing tools flag errors in emails, notes or chat messages and suggest better phrasing before the text goes out.
Dictation also works noticeably better: speaking instead of typing produces significantly fewer errors, Apple says, plus automatic capitalization and punctuation. An example from office life: a clerk dictates a reply to a customer inquiry into the Mail app while out and about. Apple Intelligence inserts commas and periods automatically and then suggests a more polite closing line. Similar dictation tools are already offered by Gemini on the Mac or apps like DeepL Write. Apple’s version, though, runs straight in the operating system with no extra install.
In Mail and Messages, Apple Intelligence also suggests short replies in the user’s own writing style, and automatic file naming sorts documents by content.
How office users find the new features
Most of the new features switch on by themselves after the update, but a few steps make sure everything is actually running. Here is how to set up and try Apple Intelligence in a few steps:
- Update iPhone, iPad or Mac to iOS 27, iPadOS 27 or macOS 27 in Settings.
- Set the device and Siri language to German, if it is not already.
- Turn the feature on under “Apple Intelligence & Siri” in Settings, if it has not switched on automatically.
- Start dictation via the microphone icon on the keyboard and speak directly into any text field.
- Select typed text and open the writing tools via right-click or tap for correction and tone suggestions.
Free to use, but the Siri AI voice assistant is still missing
Apple Intelligence costs nothing in its basic form and comes automatically with the update to iOS 27, iPadOS 27 or macOS 27. A compatible device is required: at minimum an iPhone 15 Pro or iPhone 16, an iPad with an M1 chip or newer, or a Mac with an Apple chip. Advanced features with higher usage limits are meant to become paid later, though Apple has not named a date or price for that yet.
Not available, however, is the new AI voice assistant Siri AI, whose EU block beckmann.ai already covered in July. Apple attributes the delay to the European Digital Markets Act. The interoperability rules, in the company’s view, would give third parties overly broad access to device data. Apple has not named a launch date for Siri AI in Germany so far.
What matters now is whether Apple reliably handles the individual features in German. Automatic corrections and dictation can still misfire on technical terms or proper names and should be checked before sending. Anyone dictating customer or company data, or letting the writing tools rephrase it, should check internal data-handling policy first. Apple says it processes most requests directly on the device. It remains open when the actual Siri AI voice assistant will launch in the EU.
