I started out in 2018 as a web developer. Then came research and development at Siemens Mobility, followed by production-ready AI systems in e-commerce – today, as Chief of Experiences at The Real Insight GmbH, I own how people work with our AI products.
What interests me is the step after the demo. A prototype impresses in ten minutes – a system that runs reliably, transparently and affordably every single day is a different job. That is where it is decided whether an AI announcement amounts to anything in day-to-day work. And because I run these systems myself, I can tell what they actually deliver – and where they don't.
Beckmann is a specialist magazine for artificial intelligence with two angles: daily news and analysis on AI developments worldwide – and a practice section that shows what you can put to use in the office right away, from case handling to accounting. Independent, ad-free, no affiliate links. And when something doesn't live up to its promise, it says so here.

From building AI systems to designing AI experiences
At The Real Insight, I lead the Human Experience function across our AI products, bridging the gap between advanced AI technology and the people who use it. My focus is to ensure that AI systems are not only technically capable but also intuitive, trustworthy, and aligned with real user needs.
Having worked across AI research, production engineering, and business automation, my focus has shifted from building AI systems to designing the way people interact with them. As AI becomes an integral part of everyday work, the challenge is no longer just creating intelligent systems — it is enabling effective collaboration between humans and AI.
I translate emerging AI capabilities into user-centered product experiences, helping organizations adopt AI with confidence while maximizing usability, trust, and business value.

AI Engineer

Building on my R&D experience, I transitioned into the e-commerce sector to design and build production-ready AI systems that automated real business processes.
I developed a customized API layer for the existing ERP, exposing its functionality through REST & MCP interfaces, and took ownership of the complete infrastructure — from procuring and configuring the required hardware to deploying and maintaining the production environment.
On this foundation, I designed and implemented AI-powered workflows that fully automated the product listing process, including AI-driven SEO optimization. Working closely with the Head of SEO, I translated domain expertise and best practices into scalable workflow logic, ensuring consistent, high-quality outputs. The resulting automation reduced the average product listing time from approximately 2 hours to just 8 minutes per product.
As the platform evolved, the initial Python & TypeScript-based workflows were migrated to n8n, enabling colleagues without a software engineering background to understand, adapt, and build AI-powered workflows themselves.
Beyond engineering, I advised the executive team on AI strategy and trained employees in the practical application of AI technologies.

AI R&D
3 years 2 months
While studying Computer Science, I worked in Research & Development (R&D) at Siemens Mobility, where I collaborated with experienced engineering teams to design and develop a GDPR-compliant Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) system for enterprise applications. This coincided with the emergence of large language models, giving me firsthand experience of how cutting-edge AI technologies evolved from research concepts into production-ready enterprise solutions.
