Germany's bid for an AI Gigafactory

From the EU's July call for proposals to Germany's higher federal funding in August 2026: the race for a German AI Gigafactory, tracked over time.

The EU opened its call for up to seven AI gigafactories in July 2026, backed by more than 30 billion euros. Germany is competing with several consortia for one of the sites and raised its own funding contribution to one billion euros in August 2026 to strengthen its bid.

This dossier tracks the race for a German gigafactory site from the call for proposals to the site selection expected in early 2027.
