Aleph Alpha after the Cohere merger

Cohere and Heidelberg-based Aleph Alpha sealed their merger into a transatlantic AI company on September 16, 2026 – with Heidelberg set to become a pure research site. Before the deal even cleared antitrust review, the Heidelberg team released its own open-weight model, Kolibri, for public administration and industry in October.
