Was bedeutet Open Source bei KI-Modellen?
Open Source heißt: Der Bauplan liegt offen. Bei KI-Modellen wird zusätzlich meist die trainierte Datei zum Download angeboten – die sogenannten Gewichte. Damit lässt sich das Modell auf eigenen Rechnern betreiben und anpassen, während geschlossene Modelle nur über die Server des Anbieters laufen. Vorsicht: Manche Anbieter nennen ihr Modell „offen“, erlauben aber nur eine eingeschränkte Nutzung – ein Blick in die Lizenz lohnt sich.
Ist Open-Source-KI kostenlos?
Für die Software selbst fällt keine Lizenzgebühr an. Die Rechenleistung kostet trotzdem: Große Modelle brauchen teure Grafikkarten oder einen Cloud-Anbieter, der sie betreibt. Kleinere Modelle laufen dagegen auf einem normalen Bürorechner. Kostenlos heißt hier also „keine Lizenzgebühr“, nicht „ohne Aufwand“.
Darf ich Open-Source-KI im Büro nutzen?
In der Regel ja – entscheidend ist die Lizenz des Projekts. Lizenzen wie Apache 2.0 oder MIT erlauben ausdrücklich auch die gewerbliche Nutzung, andere schränken sie ein. Wer personenbezogene Daten verarbeitet, klärt den Einsatz zusätzlich mit IT und Datenschutz im eigenen Haus. Der Vorteil offener Modelle: Sie können im Unternehmen selbst laufen, die Daten verlassen das Haus also nicht.
Woher kommen die Zahlen auf dieser Seite?
Von GitHub, der Plattform, auf der die meisten Projekte ihren Quellcode verwalten. Ein Stern ist dort ein Lesezeichen: Wer ein Projekt interessant findet, markiert es.
